On Downtimes…

Hey all – two things, both related to downtimes.

Firstly, the deadline for downtimes before Vaticon will be midnight Sunday 22nd of March. Don’t be that guy that sends me a downtime at midnight the night before the game. While it may or may not get processed it definitely gives me ammunition to use against you later, when I need to make myself feel good by belittling someone else.

Secondly, the first version of the automated downtime system is live-in-testing. I’ll be testing it by putting every downtime I’ve got through it and fixing any errors I see as I go along. If anyone particularly wants to take a look for themselves, drop me a line.

Thirdly, and not related to downtimes at all (see? I lied.) We’re having a brief discussion on the forums (HERE) about where Gilgamesh will go after Vaticon. Opinions welcomed!

Now is the time for sprinting…

…Game IV is done, involving real-life tears (mine, the night before), sweat (it was pretty warm in that room) and blood (there was an accident.) We’re now into the ill-advised run up to Game V at Vaticon.

As far as I’m aware, they only have a Facebook page, which you can find HERE. It’s on in the UCD Students’ Union building in Dublin on the 27th/28th/29th of March. My understanding is that Gilgamesh runs on the Sunday afternoon, 2pm – 5pm, and here’s the blurb we sent to them:

“Gilgamesh Inspired” a LARP by Team Midway

With some small nuggets of information about what’s going on the Lagoon Nebula there is a chance for the crew of the Gilgamesh to make some headway on their main problem – the fact that they are trapped, galaxies away from home. A period of downtime among the other vessels of the Flock is a good time for reflection and for wounds to heal. But quiet times are never as quiet as one wants them to be, and politics can wound as effectively as any torpedo blast…

Be there or be… well… somewhere else, I guess. I mean, it’s hardly like you can be nowhere, or be in two places at the same time, so it follows that if one isn’t in one place, one must therefore be in a different place…

On a Personal Note…

…I just wanted to comment on my inconvenient absence from this blog, email, and Gilgamesh in general.

To summarise, real-life is poking its ugly head into my affairs. Specifically I’m being made redundant from my job. While the company I work for is quite light on specific details at the moment I have between 3 weeks and several months of employment left here. It’s fairly sudden, it’s unavoidable, and I’ve been spending some time frantically trying to get a new job and some time moping about my bad luck. This whole situation is far from conducive to writing LARPs, and so I’ve been offline for a bit. I’m sorry about that, but real-life has to come first.

However – I’m concentrating on nothing but Gilgamesh this week (and I’m doing some stuff during office hours. If they don’t like it they can fire me.) Consequently I’m reading emails again and the downtime deadline is more or less up to and including anything that I see. Anything that I’ve got already will be honored for Leprecon. If I’ve got your emailed downtime then you’ll receive a confirmation mail in the next fifteen minutes.

In addition, as has been leaked elsewhere, Cybernetics recipes are on the site HERE.
